Dr. P. G. Halakatti Research Centre
Dr. M. B. Patil, President of BLDEA, established Dr. P. G. Halakatti Reserach Centre in 2003 initially as a memorial hall to commemorate the services rendered by Dr. P. G. Halakatti in the field of Sharana literature and for the wellbeing of society. Dr. M. B. Patil also took the initiative to carry out cultural and literary activities at the memorial hall.
Over the years, this centre has grown to become one of the most reputed research centres in the state, which is synonyms with quality research work. Activities such as literature, research work and career guidance are carried out at this research centre regularly.
As its first major project, the centre took up the task of publishing the entire Sharana literature, which was researched, compiled and published by Dr. P. G. Halakatti during his lifetime. The work was successfully completed, and 15 volumes (consisting of 12,500 pages) of Dr. P. G. Halakatti's research work were published and dedicated to the nation on January 30, 2008.
Recognition from Hampi Kannada University
Dr. P. G. Halakatti Research Centre received recognition from Hampi Kannada University in 2005. The process of undertaking PhD study at the centre was started as per the guidelines laid by the University. While eight students of this centre have received PhD so far, seven students are pursuing PhD Research work at the centre.
A two-day 3rd Karnataka State Manuscript Conference was meaningfully held on Sept 16-17, 2005, in association with Dr. P. G. Halakatti Research Centre.
Translation of Adil Shahi Literature
The Adil Shahi Dynasty ruled several parts of South India for around 200 years, making Vijayapura its capital city. The dynasty's contribution to the field of sculpture, arts and literature is world-renowned.
The Dept of Kananda and Culture approved P. G. Halakatti Research Centre's proposal to translate the Adil Shahi literature which was in Dakhani Urdu into Kannada in 2013. A committee was formed under the chairmanship of Dr. M. M. Kalaburagi, a scholar of Vachana literature. Senior litterateur Dr. Krishna Kolhar Kulkarni worked as the Director of the project. The centre completed the project on time and published 21 books in 18 volumes.

Dr. P. G. Halakatti Research Centre Building

Sankalpa – A forum for talented students
‘Contemporary Educational Excellence Centre’, established in the name of Shri Sanganabasava Shivayogiji, is a forum for students. The forum carries out several educational, arts and traditional activities.
Social Contributions
Sri Poojya Banhanala Swamiji, who strove for the nurturing and growth of BLDE Association, made use of the services of the devotees for the establishment of educational institutions instead of religious work.
In its schools established in rural areas, BLDEA has created a system for providing complementary education on vocations that supplement rural life such as agriculture, horticulture, etc.
BLDEA established a 700 bedded hospital and a medical college in 1986. This is a major contribution of the association to the people of North Karnataka.
Currently, BLDEA is providing free treatment to the poor and the downtrodden through a 1,125 bedded modern hospital.
Dr. M. B. Patil, son of Sri Dr. B. M. Patil and the Minister for Water Resources and Vijayapura District Incharge Minister in the incumbent government, has been working tireless to extend the services of BLDEA to social service and other areas.
BLDEA has not restricted its activities to education and research alone. The association has been striving hard to make Vijayapura a drought free district and has undertaken a massive tree planting programme of fulfil its dream.
BLDEA has been providing support to studies and research in areas such as agriculture, health, industry, dairy, sericulture cultivation, etc.
BLDEA's Vachana Pitamaha Dr. P. G. Halakatti Research Centre has successfully undertaken and implemented the project of translating the precious literature of Adil Shahi era into Kannada. The Centre has published 21 books in 18 volumes so far.
Through Chinthana Balaga of Dr. P. G. Halakatti Research Centre, BLDEA has been regularly organizing birthdays of dignitaries, lectures, seminars, interaction programmes, etc.
